Raymond Farrelly is an Irish artist and illustrator whose mixed media practice reflects a diverse subject matter.
Raymond’s work explores nature and community, how modernity has altered these relationships, and the impoverishment of identity compounded by phenomenon such as ‘shifting baseline syndrome’ - a new “normal” of environmental degradation observed by each passing generation.
The consequence of being ‘a part’ from nature, reinforced by over-consumption, drives the atomisation of society. This is profoundly antithetical to community, and as we witness environmental degradation, are we also witnessing the erosion of our humanity.
